Recent Times
Bangladesh became an independent country in 1971. After
getting the freedom from the Pakistanis, there are so many people who work hard
in both national and international arena to bring the development of this
country so that this country can reach in higher level of development. People
are contributing with their great efforts in the different aspects such as
Economics, Business, Social Works, Science and Technology, Sports and
Entrepreneurship etc. They are the role models for the procurement of
motivation for all Bangladeshis. Some top names of inspirational Bangladeshis
are enlisted here;
Muhammad Yunus
Mohammad Yunus is a noble prize winning economist
who pioneered micro financing in Bangladesh. He founded the Grameen Bank, with
which he shared the 2006 Noble Peace Prize ‘For their efforts to create social
and economic development.’ Grameen Bank used to give loans to those who are
surviving with extreme level of poverty and could not able to get the traditional
loans from the banks. Yunus and the team of his Grameen Bank show that, even
poor has the capability to bring some positive change by developing their own
condition of life. Besides the Noble Prize, Dr Muhammad Yunus awarded Presidential
Medal of Freedom in 2009 and Congressional Gold Medal award in 2010.

Sir Fazle Hasan Abed
Sir Fazle Hasan Abed is the founder and the chairman
of the world’s largest non – governmental organization ‘BRAC’. Sir Fazle Abed
establish ‘BRAC’ with the primary objectives of alleviating poverty and empowering the poor. Now the ‘BRAC’ has over 120000 employees across the world.
Sir Fazle Hasan Abed was awarded ‘Ramon Magsaysay’ Award. He is appointed
Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (KCMG) in 2010 for
dominating to reduce poverty and empowering the poor in Bangladesh and
globally.

Jawed Karim
Jawed Karim is an American internet entrepreneur of
Bangladesh origin. He is the co- founder of the popular video sharing website
YouTube. Many of the core components of PayPal, including its real- time anti-
fraud system, were designed and implemented by Jawed Karim. YouTube was
acquired by Google in 2007. Jawed Karim’s payoff was an estimated $65m.

Salman Khan
Salman khan is a graduate of MIT and
Harvard Business School. He is listed as one of Time Magazine’s 100 most
influential people in the world. He is the founder of the Khan Academy, a
non-profit educational website which is now the largest virtual ‘school’ in the
world with over 10 million students.

Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib is considered as the best
cricketer in recent Bangladeshi sporting record. Shakib is Bangladesh’s first
and the 28th player in the history of test cricket to score a century and
pick up 5 wickets in an innings in a test match in 2011 vs Pakistan. He is the World Number 7 Popular Cricket
Player. Shakib was listed as the World’s Number 1 All Rounder cricketer who is
ranked in all three, (Test match, ODI and T20) format of Cricket in January
2015.

Omar Ishrak

Nishat Mazumder
Nishat Mazumder is an Everest climber.
She is an accountant by profession in Dhaka Water and Sewerage Supply Authority
(WASA). Nishat hoisted the Bangladeshi flag atop the 8,848-metre-high peak of
Mount Everest, becoming the first Bangladeshi woman to make it to the top of
the highest mountain in the world. She is an awesome role model for girls all
around the world to reach every height imaginable.

Korvi Rakshand
Korvi Rakshand is the founder of ‘Jaago Foundation’. He is a
Bangladeshi social entrepreneur. Korvi was listed in the
“Top 99 under 33 Influential Foreign Policy Leaders” by The Diplomatic Courier,
in Washington D.C. He has engaged 10,000 volunteers to work with Jaago on
tackling issues from illiteracy, malnutrition in children to helping families
build better lives. Rakshand was awarded Commonwealth Youth Award in 2013.

Siddikur Rahman is a professional golfer of Bangladesh. He is
known as Tiger Woods of Bangladesh. He won so many golf events in Bangladesh,
Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India. Siddikur
became the first Bangladeshi golfer to win an Asian Tour event at the Brunei
Open at August 2010.

Salma Khatun
Salma Khatun is a captain and an all
round cricketer of Bangladesh national women’s cricket team. Bangladesh
national women’s cricket team won historic silver medal under Salma’s captaincy
in Asian Games 2010 against China women’s cricket team. Salma Khatun is a
wonderful example of women empowerment in Bangladesh.
